Accidente de la China Guo Meiling :
La fiesta de la largada en Tecnópolis se vio afectada por el primer accidente en el Rally Dakar 2016.
La china Guo Meiling, abordo de un Mini inscripto con el número 360, se despistó en el prólogo e impactó contra espectadores, dejando un saldo de 10 heridos.
De esa decena de afectados que fueron trasladados al Hospital Santa Francisco, tres están en grave estado. Otra de los heridos fue una mujer embarazada, que según el director del hospital, Daniel Modesto, está fuera de peligro al igual que su bebé.
La asiática, primera mujer de su país en correr el Dakar, se fue de la pista en el kilómetro siete del especial cronometrado (a tres km del final) y debido al duro accidente la carrera fue parada.
